HISTORICAL MARKER DEDICATION

LANGSTON BAPTIST CHURCH

1474 LANGSTON ROAD

CLINTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

This unveiling is one of many that will be recognized with honor collectively by the Laurens County American Revolution 250 Committee, and the Langston Baptist Church, as a historic landmark within Laurens County. All of the sites to be recognized within Laurens County, those being buildings, sites or objects, are identified and declared as a significant part of history and culture for Laurens County during the American Revolutionary War.

The Langston Baptist Church was founded in 1773 with the name of Upper Duncan Creek Church and was later named after Solomon Langston, a Revolutionary War hero and Patriot. Langston was also the father of Dicey Langston who was also a war hero who spied on the Loyalists.

The historical marker recognizes the church as one of the oldest churches in the Upstate along with the associated war hero’s. Do come and enjoy this historical event followed by a meal and fellowship. The unveiling will begin promptly at 4:30 P.M. followed by a brief history in the Church.
